Yeah a little later than promised, but here is Sophie's wonderful, powerful and fiery blog post. Part of the humungous blog, a couple of months ago now, which reflected on YMMV as a whole, we wanted to repost it. The wording definitely deserves to stand alone. After this blast from the past, I have scrawled a quick update in these very strange times.
A Huge Achievement
How do you go about evaluating and reflecting on such an awesome achievement as You, Me and My Voice 2019 was... more to the point how do you go about thanking everyone involved? From mastermind Natalie Palin to get stuck in there Jennifer Noice’s practical experience, thanks might pop up a lot through this blog and actually, through my everyday living for a very long time! Time to put our feet up and celebrate!
Recapping, Reconnection, Reimagining
Performance should neverstop developing, art is a fluid form that should never feel completed. Astory that never really ends, it’s a entity that can be built upon. Even when the curtain closes the audience should feel that the story continues. Performance is aliving being, the characters continue to have life even after the finalcurtain closes, the worlds continue in the minds of the audience andhold a place within the hearts of the performers. That’s how I see it, but I have a flair for the dramatic (darling I’m a performer!).
