Is it Time to Panic?

Post written by Jennifer

The rehearsal today took us to South Devon College, a place close to my heart and close to the heart of You, Me and My Voice. After discussing that we only have this rehearsal and one more before we will be showing back at the Ideas Lab (a scratch platform for local original theatre makers and companies) at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, well, it's weird... shouldn't I be really panicking? 'Maybe', I thought to myself, that panic will come later in the rehearsal.

So.. up with the wardrobe, a quick chat and a 'let's take it from the top' and the rehearsal began. We ran through what we had, much of it just seemed to work and when it didn't it was like the ideas that were flowing were so in tune with each other almost like the whole company knew what each other were thinking, or maybe the piece was talking for itself and guiding us all to where You, Me and My Voice needs to be. It truly is such an amazing experience working with these hugely talented and totally beautiful people and to see a piece of theatre almost dictate its own journey with the love and care of its YMMV family.

As if this wasn't enough we were also graced with presence of the awesome Emily who took photos for us throughout the rehearsal.

So the panic never came and although there is a huge amount of work to do, (re jigging the timelines, sourcing props, learning lines and cues, building paraphernalia for the 'Intervention', continuing to play with the content and more), it feels ready to be shown, ready to scratch to an audience who's feedback will help shape the full piece.

So very excited for next week!
